Originally from the tropics and sub-tropics of Asia and New Guinea, this Chinese evergreen catches the eye with the striking silver chevrons on the dark glossy foliage. This has always been a very popular choice if you are wanting a striking foliage plant that does not require much of your time in care. It adapts to almost any position in the house and continues to put on a show. A real winner and especially a good choice for beginners.
Supplied in a 17cm nursery pot.
Plant size of 35cm tall, inclusive of the pot, and 40cm wide.
Will fit into a pot cover size of 18-20cm wide and 15cm deep.
Compact and bushy, only reaching a height of 50-70cm and of equal spread.
Medium to low light conditions. Darker leaf varieties can tolerate lower light levels while lighter leaf varieties require more light.
Water when the surface soil is dry to the touch. Do not let it dry out for prolonged periods of time, but also do not keep it consistently wet.
Health concerns and benefits:
Known to cause irritation to the skin and eyes in ingested, so keep out of reach of children and pets.
It has been rated in a NASA study as being one of the best plants to purify the air from airborne toxins and converting that to oxygen.
Soft scale and mealybug insect generally evident when there is poor ventilation/air circulation in the room. Overwatering can also be an issue for this plant.
