An easy to care for trailing or climbing Philodendron vine with gorgeous heart-shaped fresh green foliage that can endlessly trail or climb to create a lush display of attractive foliage.
Otherwise known as the Heartleaf Philodendron, this tropical vine originates from Central America and the Caribbean, growing as an epiphyte in trees. As a houseplant, it thrives in moist, free-draining soil and prefers a humid environment to closely match its native habitat. With both climbing and trailing tendencies, it can make the perfect choice for the living room grown up a mosspole or trailing off the edge of a shelf or bookcase. To encourage a bushier growth habit or fuller appearance, just pinch the stems just above a leaf node.
Supplied in a 12cm nursery pot.
Plant size of 18cm tall, inclusive of the pot, and 15cm wide.
Will fit into a pot cover size of 13cm wide and 14cm deep.
It is both a climber and a trailing plant. It can reach a height of around 10cm when trailing and can trail endlessly. The stems can be cut at any stage to reduce the length and ends can be used for cuttings to grow additional plants. Ideal to be grown in hanging baskets.
Medium to bright light conditions and even tolerating low light, but no direct sunlight. It prefers a humid environment with regular misting for optimal growth.
The plant enjoys moist (not saturated) and well-draining soil, so regular watering required during the warmer months and less in the winter months. Being a tropical plant, it will benefit from regular misting of the foliage when the room is warmer than average and especially if the heating is on for longer periods of time during the winter months.
Health concerns and benefits:
Most Philodendron species are toxic to both humans and pets. Keep away from small children and pets.
It is known for having strong air-purifying abilities by filtering airborne toxins such as formaldehyde and converting them to oxygen.
Soft scale and mealybug insect generally evident when there is poor ventilation/air circulation in the room.
